RECENT ACTIVITY OF INDIA

India’s engagement with Central Asia on strategic military concerns is gathering pace, with high-level visits and cooperation deals underscoring the immense value New Delhi attaches to the region. The strengthened Indian presence in the area is driven by New Delhi’s desire not only to protect its investments in Central Asia, but also its interests in Afghanistan after NATO withdraws in 2014.



Indian Army chief Gen. V.K. Singh’s recent visit to Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan is less indicative of a new initiative than of existing relationships being taken to the next level. The deeper strategic cooperation with the two largest Central Asian republics will not only help New Delhi secure its economic engagement with both countries, but also increase its own geopolitical space more broadly.


An Indo-Japanese entente in Asia has been a much-discussed, but somewhat amorphous proposition -- till now. China’s belligerent posture in the South China Sea and the perceived decline of U.S. influence has managed to focus minds in both Tokyo and New Delhi. Japan and India are moving to put in place a strategic economic structure that can enrich both sides while maintaining the Asian balance of power.


In a move that signals India's resolve to stay the course in Afghanistan, Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh signed a Strategic Partnership Agreement with visiting Afghan President Hamid Karzai in New Delhi last week. The deal includes a major security component. However, India's plans in Afghanistan go well beyond a simplistic security rubric and are increasingly driven by longer-term geo-economic interests.


While much has been written about China's port development projects in the Indian Ocean region, Beijing's undersea activities in the area could also pave the way for a naval presence and may prove to be the greater source of consternation for India and its navy. The cornerstone of China's undersea resource ambitions is its manned submersible program, which seems to have made some impressive strides of late.


Ending a months-long dispute over oil payments, Iran has now resumed oil shipments to India, with Turkey stepping in as a key facilitator to resolve the impasse. The tripartite arrangement, by which Turkey will rout Indian payments to Iran, comes amid regional tensions over Syria and indicates that India's energy interests are emerging as a key variable in the strategic calculus of Middle Eastern capitals.


Many commentators saw Vietnam's calls for foreign involvement in its maritime territorial dispute with China as a thinly veiled invitation to the United States. But it could also be a precursor to India establishing a permanent naval presence in Vietnamese waters. That would not only add military heft to India's "Look East" policy, but also reflects a larger Indian effort to counter China's activities in South Asia.


Saudi Arabia's recent announcement that it plans to build 16 large reactors by 2030 may have seemed incongruous in the wake of the Fukushima crisis. In fact, it actually buttresses the Middle East's current trajectory as a major future market for nuclear energy. Moreover, given the sheer size of the plan, Riyadh is in a position to set terms and use the project to enhance new partnerships while balancing old ones.



India's selection of European aircraft as finalists for the multi-role fighter jet tender has been seen by many U.S. observers as a snub to the Indo-U.S. strategic partnership, despite the Indian government's great efforts to frame the decision as a purely technical one. In reality, the Indian decision reflects the fact that, in this particular case, Europe offers a superior value proposition than the United States.



The Saudi intervention in Bahrain has upped the ante in the Saudi-Iranian cold war, crystallizing it into a wider Sunni-Shiite schism in the Muslim world. Saudi Arabia has reportedly invoked a treaty with Sunni-dominated Pakistan to secure troops to stabilize Bahrain and its own eastern provinces. Riyadh has also asked Turkey to make it clear to Iran that interference in the Gulf states will not be tolerated.


The plight of the Indian freighter MV Asphalt Venture added a new dimension to India's fight against piracy in the Indian Ocean when Somali pirates announced they would retain seven Indian sailors as hostages, even though they had released the ship itself. India can no longer afford a purely defensive strategy on the high seas, but must now look at both economic and political intervention in the Horn of Africa.


The implications for India of a proposed U.S.-China grand strategy agreement hammered out by a group of policy experts in Washington and Beijing was a major concern for the late K. Subhramanyam. The document proposed a series of strategic compromises between China and the U.S. Indian analysts, including Subhramanyam, saw the proposal as a ploy by the Chinese to "use the U.S. to attain hegemonic power in Asia."


India's central bank announced that it would no longer allow Indian importers to trade with Iran using the Asian Clearing Union, saying it wanted to explore an alternate means of facilitating trade-related payments. Talks are currently underway to resolve the issue. Nevertheless, the episode has underlined the fact that India cannot always avoid zero-sum games as it emerges into becoming a full-fledged global power.



As U.S. President Barack Obama put it in his address to the Indian parliament, "India isn't emerging. It has already emerged." India has grown steadily through the global recession, and the Asian giant is taking measures to reorient global institutions to suit its geopolitical weight. India has sought partnerships with neighbors and like-minded Asian democracies to counter China, and is attempting to rapidly modernize its military, especially its naval and air-force capabilities. This strategic posture review examines India's foreign and defense policies and its strategic priorities.



Turkey is leveraging its longstanding ties with Pakistan and its stature as one of the few industrialized countries in the Muslim world to create a diplomatic role for itself in Afghanistan. Ankara's recent decision to keep India out of the January 2010 tripartite summit on Afghanistan at Pakistan's behest may be indicative of a larger realignment in the region, with the Pakistan-Turkey relationship serving as an incubator.


French President Nicolas Sarkozy is the latest head of state to visit India at a time when the latter is looking to award lucrative contracts in energy, infrastructure, security and other areas. The visit saw forward movement on a number of bilateral deals valued at around $20 billion. Both sides seek a more-enduring partnership than a purely commercial transaction, however.


For a number of reasons, space-based solar power may soon emerge as one of the leading sectors of strategic cooperation between India and the U.S. Neither SBSP nor the idea of an international partnership as an enabler for it is new. However, various technological advances that make SBSP a more realistic possibility now coincide with growing U.S. interest in India as a potential partner in such an endeavor.


Reports last week suggested that China is considering investing in a large, 1,000-megawatt reactor in Pakistan. If validated, they indicate that Chinese policymakers have given the go-ahead to a nuclear development plan prioritizing early export of indigenous large reactors, while simultaneously underlining Beijing's willingness and ability to pursue a policy of nuclear exceptionalism in the subcontinent.


Nuclear energy's recent renaissance has seen the United States firm up nuclear cooperation agreements with a number of emerging nuclear nations. However the most eye-catching so far is the proposed deal with Vietnam, which stands out not only for its departure from the standard template of such deals, but also because it comes at a time when Sino-American interests have been at odds in the South China Sea.


A number of recent incidents involving both China's presence in Pakistani-controlled Kashmir and its stance on the Kashmir dispute in general have exacerbated the feeling among Indian analysts that New Delhi is being systematically "surrounded" by Beijing. The developments highlight the fact that the geostrategic struggle between India and Pakistan for Kashmir has a third direct player: China.

Sunspot Numbers

In 1610, shortly after viewing the sun with his new telescope, Galileo Galilei (or was it Thomas Harriot?) made the first European observations of Sunspots. Continuous daily observations were started at the Zurich Observatory in 1849 and earlier observations have been used to extend the records back to 1610. The sunspot number is calculated by first counting the number of sunspot groups and then the number of individual sunspots.

The "sunspot number" is then given by the sum of the number of individual sunspots and ten times the number of groups. Since most sunspot groups have, on average, about ten spots, this formula for counting sunspots gives reliable numbers even when the observing conditions are less than ideal and small spots are hard to see. Monthly averages (updated monthly) of the sunspot numbers (181 kb JPEG image), (307 kb pdf-file), (62 kb text file) show that the number of sunspots visible on the sun waxes and wanes with an approximate 11-year cycle.
(Note: there are actually at least two "official" sunspot numbers reported. The International Sunspot Number is compiled by the Solar Influences Data Analysis Center in Belgium. The NOAA sunspot number is compiled by the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration . The numbers tabulated in spot_num.txt are the monthly averages (SSN) and standard deviation (DEV) derived from the International Sunspot Numbers)

The Maunder Minimum

Early records of sunspots indicate that the Sun went through a period of inactivity in the late 17th century. Very few sunspots were seen on the Sun from about 1645 to 1715 (38 kb JPEG image). Although the observations were not as extensive as in later years, the Sun was in fact well observed during this time and this lack of sunspots is well documented. This period of solar inactivity also corresponds to a climatic period called the "Little Ice Age" when rivers that are normally ice-free froze and snow fields remained year-round at lower altitudes. There is evidence that the Sun has had similar periods of inactivity in the more distant past. The connection between solar activity and terrestrial climate is an area of on-going research.

Detailed observations of sunspots have been obtained by the Royal Greenwich Observatory since 1874. These observations include information on the sizes and positions of sunspots as well as their numbers. These data show that sunspots do not appear at random over the surface of the sun but are concentrated in two latitude bands on either side of the equator. A butterfly diagram (142 kb GIF image) (184 kb pdf-file) (updated monthly) showing the positions of the spots for each rotation of the sun since May 1874 shows that these bands first form at mid-latitudes, widen, and then move toward the equator as each cycle progresses.

The Greenwich Sunspot Data

The Royal Greenwich Observatory data has been appended with data obtained by the US Air Force Solar Optical Observing Network since 1977. This newer data has been reformatted to conform to the older Greenwich data and both are available in a local directory of ASCII files. Each file contains records for a given year with individual records providing information on the daily observations of active regions.

MSFC Solar Physics Branch members Wilson, Hathaway, and Reichmann have studied the sunspot record for characteristic behavior that might help in predicting future sunspot activity. Our current predictions of solar activity for the next few years can be found at this link. Although sunspots themselves produce only minor effects on solar emissions, the magnetic activity that accompanies the sunspots can produce dramatic changes in the ultraviolet and soft x-ray emission levels. These changes over the solar cycle have important consequences for the Earth's upper atmosphere.

SOLAR STORM WARNING BY NASA

Update: 12-15-2011. With well over a half million visitors 'per-hour' to this website now, you most likely have heard about NASA warning the public, "to get ready for a once in a life time solar event". But since we first published this update back in early 2010, a lot more information has since unfolded. Soon we will add some additional NASA footage here that is very troubling, that gives cause to exactly why NASA is so concerned.

Additionally we have been inundated by email asking us about other pending issues expected in 2012-2013. IE: Meteorite storm, sudden pole shift, Nibiru (aka planet-x), extreme weather, earthquakes, volcanic activity and the oceans of the world sweeping across the continuants of the world resulting from a sudden pole shift.

All we can say is that there is so much conflicting data out there, that it's hard to know what to believe. But no doubt that 2011 smashed all modern world records when it comes to the most natural disasters in a single year, breaking some three thousand records. That alone says something. Should this trend escalate greatly 2012, mankind will have to start taking the 2011, 2012 warning signs very seriously.


Despite that high profile scientist along with NASA and the National Academy of Science are all warning us about solar storms in 2012-2013, we ourselves have no way of knowing one way or the other if any catastrophic events will take place such as solar storms, great earthquakes, super volcanic eruptions, pole shifts, planet crossers and so forth. There by we do not imply or make any such claims of pending catastrophic events, rather we simply report on the facts as we find them. This website gathers it's scientific data information information that is gathered from US government websites, including independent sources such as the National Academy of Science, NOAA, NASA, CNN, BBC, CBS News, NBC News, ABC News, MSN News and other space agencies whenever possible. Please note that when we express our opinion on something, we make sure that we state that, "it's our personal opinion that..." this way the reader knows we are not trying pass-off our personal opinion as fact. In the event something does happen within the next few years, we have put together a Solar Storm Survival Guide which can be downloaded. This is not a scare tactic, rather everyone should be ready for any kind of national emergency regardless as to whether or not 2012 or 2013 holds any real threats.

As you may know, on March 10th, 2006 NASA's own website issued a solar storm warning for 2012. Then in June of 2010 NASA reinforces their original 2006 warning telling the public to get ready for a once in a lifetime solar storm. Dr Richard Fisher, head of NASA's Heliophysics Division said: "We know it's coming but we don't know how bad it's going to be." However, "the next solar maximum should be a doozy" says Dikpati. NASA say's the sun storm will be in full swing around 2012-2013, however the National Academy of Science says, "The solar storm could start any day now." "Who ever is right, the storm is coming!" says NASA.

But what NASA is not telling the general public, is what we should be doing to prepare only that they tell us to do so. Unlike hurricanes and snowstorms, most have no idea what they could be doing to prepare for a sunstorm.

By now you should have begun to notice major news agencies as well as talk radio are starting to cover this slow developing story detailing exactly what NASA's warning actually means to the public. If it turns out that NASA, along with other world scientist are is indeed right, "The Economic Damage In The United States Alone Will Be Twenty Times Greater Then Hurricane Katrina that hit New Orleans" says NASA. *Keep in mind that mankind is in uncharted water when it comes to knowing for absolute certainty what the long and short term effects will be, that is, should a super solar storm clash with modern civilization.

If the earth in fact gets a direct hit by a solar storm producing x-class solar flares, (Coronal Mass Ejection or CME) ...it can cripple the world in more ways then we can possibly imagine, as it will cause nearly every electronic device to no longer work until it gets fixed. Imagine no more working cell phones, cars, trucks, planes, ships, computers, navigation systems, TV, radio, iPods, or game machines, let alone no more advanced medical services. *Since more then likely there will be no electric power in most of the world for many months on end, there will be no modern banking system in place, no New York Stock Exchange, credit cards will be worthless and what cash, silver and gold you have will be king. Food stores will soon be looted in the name of survival, most gas stations can't pump gas for what cars and trucks that might still be working. All forms of radio communication will no longer work during this period, making it difficult if not impossible for local law enforcement to maintain law and order, and National Marshall Law = (Rex-84) will be ordered that the public will be mostly unaware of.

Before you know it, the the city water and sewer system will stop working. If you are on an electric well pump, you lose your water right away, (unless it's a hand pump) where as those in the city might have a few days to a week or so before they lose all their water pressure. Even worse, those who don't have at least twelve to twenty four months of secured food and water, starvation will set in, which stands to kill hundreds of millions world wide if not billions; where as third world countries will not be as adversely effected. *Remember... most of the world population no longer supply their own food and water, rather people buy it. If food trucks don't run, then they cant get the food to the stores. Even if somehow cars and trucks still worked, gas stations will be without power for months and thus unable to pump gas without having to run a costly generator. No doubt what gas their is available will be top dollar, easily exceeding ten US dollars per gallon in many locations world wide.

It will be one big nightmare if the earth takes a direct hit from a super CME, thus changing billions of lives forever. Leading countries like the US would be temporally setback well over a hundred and fifty years. But there are numerous things we can do to easily survive the coming solar storm rather then us becoming a victim. We must keep in mind that it will take years to fully repair the damage electrical grid and power stations resulting from a direct hit of a perfect solar storm. This once in a life time solar storm event that NASA is warning everyone about is not to be taken lightly, especially if NASA and the National Academy of Science is indeed right. It's not so much that the solar storm itself is the real threat where as starvation and anarchy/chaos is the bigger threat. Yes, some say that a direct hit from a massive CME could do environmental damage as well, possibly causing the side of the earth facing the sun to climb to unthinkable temperatures, possibly causing fires. But we think that might be a bit far reaching to think that way. Nevertheless, there are a lot of unknowns here and we will just have to see what happens, and just how bad it really gets. Taking shelter in a cave near you or underground shelter could in the end be your best bet, that is, if you want to play it on the safe side.

No one at an official level such as world leaders, are going to make any special announcement about the pending danger to earth, as to do so, would instantly cause world wide panic. People such as yourself who learn about the coming super solar storm now, are the ones that have any real chance at protecting themselves and family against this potential looming disaster that may begin to unfold at any time now. As for everyone else? For the most part the rest of the world population will be clueless and wont have any idea at first what happen when their electronic world comes crashing down around them.

Though we publish a Solar Storm Survival Guide, we have delayed it's release in updating it to better cover other possible world calamities. There is no need to panic. Simply prepare yourself as best as you can, and hopefully nothing serious will happen. But in case something does, you will have a head start in being prepared. We must keep in mind that should any one or more of these events actually happen, each and everyone of us will have no choice but to fend for our own food and water as well as protection from the elements and would be predators for months, possibly for years to come. If you are way up in your years, most likely you really don't care at this point, that is, unless you have family you might be concerned about.

As we originally stated...

In light of recent news, the following information is paramount. On July 14, 2010 we learned that our sun is passing through an interstellar energy cloud which excites/energizes the sun. NASA, along with The National Academy of Science and other world renowned scientist are so concerned about this up and coming solar maximum in late 2012, that way back in March 10, 2006 NASA issued a solar storm warning (in writing) for 2012. What NASA omitted in their 2006 solar storm warning is what prompted NASA in the first place to issue a 2012 solar storm warning four years in advance? Then in 2010, NASA again warns the general population of a pending solar storm, telling the population to get ready for a once in a lifetime solar storm. Despite that news agencies and websites like this one are beginning to cover this developing story, no high government official has yet to stick his or her neck out to make an official announcement about the catastrophic implications as to allow the global population to begin preparing.

The following scientific data revealed by Alexei Dmitriev further supports NASA's original 2012 solar storm warning issued back in March of 2006.

Astrophysicist Alexei Dmitriev says that both Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 satellites reveal that our sun, as well as our entire solar system, is now moving into an interstellar energy cloud. Opher, a NASA Heliophysics Guest Investigator from George Mason University says this interstellar energy cloud is turbulent. Dmitriev explains that this cloud of energy is exciting the atmospheres of our planets and especially our sun. As this interstellar energy cloud continues to excite/charge the sun, it causes the sun to become more active, resulting in greater output from the sun. IE: Bigger and more frequent solar storms and CME's resulting in the Carrington effect. This interstellar cloud of electrical energy is also absorbed by the Earth, and scientist have found that it results in more earth quakes, all while dramatically effecting our weather here on earth. When asked how long will it take our sun to pass through this interstellar energy cloud, Dr. Dmitriev replied, "I don't know. But If I had to guess, I would say somewhere between two thousand to three thousand years." This interstellar cloud is a wispy band of charged particles through which our solar system is slowly moving through.

When Dr. Dmitriev was asked what are the implications of all this for earth he replied, "Global catastrophe! Not in tens of years from now, but in ones of years" ...in that this global catastrophe is basically right around the corner setting the stage for NASA's latest solar storm warning 2012-2013.

Dr. Dmitriev is talking about the Carrington Effect which can knock out electrical power and all modern forms of communications world wide for months on end, even years. When that happens, global anarchy and mass looting will soon begin as the food chain will become paralyzed/crippled in modern countries, while water shortages will quickly become a threat to our very survival because electricity is what runs the pumps that gets the water to our homes and offices. If you are not prepared prepared to be self efficient for one to two years, then you and your family will be at risk of dehydration and starvation during a time when drinking water, food and toilet paper will be more valuable then money itself.

World Will Not End In 2012

A.
Thanks to Stephen Hawking we now know that a black hole exists in the centre of our galaxy, the Milky Way. On December 13th 2012 the Earth will come in to perfect alignment between the sun and the centre of the galaxy, this much is true. This alignment will cause the earth to be affected by additional gravity, this is also true. So the theory goes that the additional gravity created by the alignment will knock the earth out of it's orbit, and possibly into the path of a comet BOOM!! There you have your end of days theory.

However, there is one teeny weenie point that seems to have been overlooked by the people who propound this theory, well, er, two points actually".

1: The additional gravity created by the alignment is teeny weenie. It's minuscule on the cosmic scale and would barely register.

2: This alignment that's supposed to send us spinning out of control, happens EVERY December 21st. It happened last year in 2008, it also happened a couple of months after the battle of Hastings in 1066, and again in 1067. It will happen again this year on December 21st 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012, 13, 14, 15 and so on.

So!! - on December 21st 2012 you can sleep easy, you WILL SEE December 22nd and go on to have a nice Xmas.

I'm sorry to be a kill joy to the masses who love this theory. In fact I'm so sorry that I'm prepared to make amends. If you REALLY AND TRULY want something to worry about, keep in mind April 13th 2036 this is when Comet Apophys REALLY COULD slam in to the Earth.

We'll also have SEVEN years to contemplate our impending doom. The Comet will pass us in 2029, so close that it will dip below our orbiting communication satellites. From that passing in 2009, astrophysicist's will be able to calculate if it's going to hit us in 2036.

Apophis is 250 meters across and has a mass of 45-million tonnes. It is orbiting the Sun at 28,000 miles per hour (45,000 kph) every seven years and each pass by Earth brings it a little closer. If it hits Earth, it could easily level a large city but it is not a planet killer. The 2029 pass will bring it within the moons orbit of the earth making it clearly visible to the naked eye even during the day. However this isn't closer than our com satellites. All this said, preparations are underway to mount a deflection operation, suggestions have also been made to slow it down into a stabilized orbit outside of the moons allowing the worlds scientist a chance to study a real comet over a lengthy period of time. Given that comets are suspected of seeding amino acids across the universe and thus giving planets within a stars habitable zone the opportunity to develop organic life this opportunity could vastly increase our understanding of planarity mechanics and the origins of organic life.

The theory of the world ending in 2012 isn't true, it's just a silly hoax. The world isn't going to end on December 21, 2012, just the Mayan Calendar ends. One of several Mayan calendars is the Long Count calendar, which is reset to day 0 every 1,872,000 days or 7057.5 years. The next reset date, by some calculations, is December 21, 2012. This is not a prediction of the end of the world. The Mayan Calendar has to end sometime. Besides, nobody can't predict when the end of the world is. You shouldn't always believe what you hear from other people. The scientific evidence about 2012 doesn't go together. Those who spread rumors about 2012 should be punished. You know what is sad, people may commit suicide over this thinking its the end of the world. Or maybe some people would get unwise with their money and spend it all like crazy and be in thousands of dollars in debt, just because they thought the world would end. Then they have to pay it off later and deal with the stress of those bills. That's why those who spread rumors about 2012 should be punished. You know what else is false about this 2012 garbage?

"¢ Planet X (Nibiru) isn't going to hit the Earth it doesn't exist.

"¢ Poles are switching everyday, this isn't going to happen all in just 1 day. This process takes thousands of years. Throughout geological history there has been may pole switches and life has still survived.

"¢ Also people are saying these poles will switch in one day due to a black hole. That's NOT true. The nearest black hole to our galaxy is 1600 light years away.

"¢ Sun will be lined up with a sunspot, but it doesn't mean it will wipe out all life on Earth. One time ago, Earth was lined up with a sunspot and people were on it and everybody didn't just die.

"¢ There is not going to be catastrophic earthquakes.

"¢ Just because certain cultures predict it like the Chinese, Japanese and all of them doesn't mean their predictions are correct. As I said, nobody can predict such a thing.

"¢ No comet will hit Earth.

"¢ If you have been watching the History Chanel about 2012 or anything like that, all they are just trying to do is scare people so they can make money.


"¢ We are going to have a rare night sky, nothing more. No asteroids, no comets, etc.

Each time the end the world is predicted. They are always wrong. Here are all the predictions of when the world would end and each time they where wrong. Every year there is a prediction like this. I'm sure that if 2012 doesn't happen, they will think of something else. Through out history the end has been predicted but has never happened so, whats the point of worrying? And if you keep asking questions about 2012, do you want to die instead of enjoying life?
Nope, the world IS NOT gonna end in 2012. The first time I herd this junk, I looked it up on almost EVERYWHERE and almost everything said one word, no. I have mainly 3 reasons that I already knew. 1. Scientists said that in 1998, the world would blow up from carbon-dioxide. 2. Just because the Mayan calendar ends in 2012, doesn't mean the worlds gonna end. It ends in 2012 because the Mayans believed either 1.23400,00 years or every 1,000 years, the world would end. But because the Mayans lives back in the, what, about, 1600, they thought 1.23400,00 years. And 3.God didn't make a specific date of when the world will end. The only time the world will end is when the sun burns out in a exactly 2.34 zillion years. The sun will burn out because it's a giant star and every star burns out. So in OUR lifetime, the earth will not end. I rest my case.
Although I agree with most of what was said (the paragraph right above this one), You can never say anything is fir sure. What about a huge meteor be enough to wipe everything out on the Earth? You know that big band of space rocks between Mars and Jupiter.... I bet that was once one planet that got hit or two planets that ran into each other. You never know what is going to happen. Maybe the Mayan's knew that there was a HUGH piece of space rock out there that had a rotation through our solar system and their were the only ones to notice it and plotted the course and found out it WOULD hit our planet? You never know...

Why build an underground bunker for every seed on the planet? unless there is concern?
Why orbit billions of pounds worth of space shuttle to observe the slightest gravitational movements in the earth land mass?
The Tsunami, Earthquakes increasing, the world being currently on fire in over 15 countries, our smallest life forms not evolving fast enough with current climate changes, The 100 year droughts predicted in East Africa starting in the next 15-20 years, The ice caps melting, economic crisis, the God Particle, the worlds most powerful lasers creating a sun the size of a led pencil planned for 2010?
Science should rule out every other possibility before coming to a conclusion....my personal conclusion is 2012 has started...it's already happening!!
I'm not convinced with pole shift arguments but when you look at what is occurring on our planet i don't think that it will only be the 'people who never went to science classes' that will look at our planets state and what governments are currently spending money on and then look at the Mayans, Egyptians, I Ching, Koran, Bible and NASA predictions for the next 5 years and start to show some serious concern.

Fact: There have been thousands of calendars in use over the years.

Calendars, whether contemporary or ancient, cannot predict the future of our planet or warn of things to happen on a specific date such as 2012.

Digital clocks reset at 23.59 each night to 00.00 but the world continues. Calendars go from December 31 to January 1 each year but the world continues.

Nostradamus
2012 myth: The end of the world in 2012 coincides with a prediction by sixteenth century philospher and visioanry Nostradamus.

Many 2012 belivers have taken as truth Nostradamus' interpretation that something will happen in 2012.

Fact: There's no evidence that Nostradamus has correctly predicted anything. His vague writings are based on imagery and metaphor and can be interpreted in many different ways.

Earth's rotation
2012 myth: An alignment of planets in our galaxy, the Milky Way, could revers the Earth's rotational or disrupt the Earth's gravitational field.

Fact: A reversal in the rotation of Earth is impossible. It has never happened and never will. It would be like a basketball that is spinning on somebody's finger suddenly stopping and going the other way.

With regard to the Earth's gravitational field, the magnetic polarity of Earth does take place around every 400,000 years but scientists don't believe it will take place for another few millennia and there is no evidence it would do any harm.

2012 myth: The film '2012' is a warning sign or prediction that the world is due to end shortly.

Fact: The film uses a sophisticated PR campaign which incorporates elements of 'viral' marketing. The trailer for the film plays on conspiracy theorists' fears that the truth is being somehow hidden by directing viewers to a 'faux scientific' website. Did the events in Jurassic park, Jumanji, or Men in Black ever happen? Quite simply, Hollywood bossed have used fears, rumours and scaremongering to make money at the box-office.
